Wedding Photographer and Videographer in Jersey City, NJ
Skyline rooftops, waterfront hotels and India Square celebrations in Jersey City, Hoboken and the Hudson County waterfront.
Jersey City gives you the best view of Manhattan without the Manhattan logistics. Waterfront hotels, rooftops and event spaces along the Hudson look straight across the river at the skyline, and the city’s own neighborhoods range from the brownstones of Paulus Hook to the busy streets of Journal Square. As a Jersey City wedding photographer and videographer, we cover weddings across Hudson County, including Hoboken, Weehawken and Bayonne.
Waterfront and skyline venues
Most Jersey City weddings happen along the waterfront. Hotels in Newport and Exchange Place, including The Westin Jersey City Newport, host ballroom receptions with river views. Liberty House, inside Liberty State Park, puts the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan right behind your ceremony. Rooftop venues and converted industrial spaces in downtown Jersey City and Hoboken offer a more relaxed, city feel.
The skyline shapes how we plan your day. The sun sets behind the venue, lighting Manhattan in warm color across the water, and as night falls the city lights come on behind you. We time portraits for both moments when we can: golden light on the skyline first, then a few frames at blue hour with the towers lit up. Wind off the river is common, so we plan veil and hair moments with that in mind.
India Square and South Asian weddings
Newark Avenue near Journal Square is known as India Square, one of the oldest South Asian shopping and dining districts in the region. Gujarati, Punjabi, Malayali, Tamil, Telugu and other Indian families live across Jersey City, along with growing Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities. Weddings for these families often include a Mehndi or Sangeet at a local hall, a ceremony, and a reception at a waterfront hotel.
Many younger couples who live and work in the city choose fusion weddings: a Hindu ceremony with the Pheras or Saptapadi in the morning, then a skyline reception with an American first dance at night. For South Indian couples, an early Muhurtham at a hotel with the river outside, the Thaali tying and the Oonjal, makes a striking start to the day. See our Indian wedding photography in New Jersey and South Indian wedding photography in New Jersey pages.
Getting there
We reach Jersey City through Manhattan and the Holland Tunnel, or around through Staten Island and the Bayonne Bridge, depending on traffic and the time of day. Parking at downtown hotels and rooftops can be limited, so we confirm loading and parking with your venue before the day.
Engagement shoots on the Hudson waterfront
For an engagement shoot, Liberty State Park gives you open lawns, the Liberty Walk promenade and the Statue of Liberty. The Exchange Place waterfront has the Manhattan skyline at its closest. Hoboken’s Pier A and Pier C parks and the streets of uptown Hoboken suit a city-neighborhood look, and Hamilton Park in Weehawken sits high on the Palisades with a wide view of Midtown. Sunset and blue hour are the times to go. Spring and fall give the clearest air and most comfortable evenings.
