Wedding Photographer and Videographer on Long Island

Wedding photography and films across Nassau and Suffolk from our studio in New York, for Indian, South Indian, South Asian, American and fusion celebrations.

Long Island is home for Verma Photography. We are based in New York, so when you look for Long Island wedding photographers you are looking at a team whose daily drive runs along the same parkways your guests will use on your wedding day. We photograph and film weddings from the Queens line out to the East End, and we cover the whole weekend when your celebration runs across several days.

What Long Island weddings look like

Long Island weddings tend to fall into a few clear styles. On the North Shore you find Gold Coast mansions and estate venues with long driveways, formal gardens and grand staircases, places like Oheka Castle in the Town of Huntington that couples plan around well ahead. Central Nassau has the large catering halls and hotel ballrooms that suit a big Indian reception, with The Garden City Hotel and The Inn at New Hyde Park among the best-known names. The South Shore brings waterfront clubs and marinas on the bays, and Suffolk opens up to country clubs, vineyards and barns as you head east.

Each setting asks for something different. Mansion ballrooms often have low, warm light and mirrored walls. Catering halls run tight timelines with several events in one building on a Saturday. Waterfront ceremonies mean planning around wind and the angle of the sun on the water. We plan your coverage around the room you have chosen, not a template.

Little India and South Asian weddings on Long Island

Broadway in Hicksville is often called Long Island’s Little India: sari shops, jewellers, sweet shops and restaurants that many families visit while they plan a wedding. Nassau and western Suffolk are home to large Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali and Pakistani communities, and to many Tamil, Telugu and Malayali families in towns such as Jericho, Syosset, New Hyde Park and Floral Park.

That mix shows up in the weddings. A Long Island celebration might start with a Haldi in a backyard in Syosset, move to a Sangeet at a banquet hall in Westbury, and finish with a hotel ceremony and an American-style reception. We cover multi-day weddings that blend Indian and American events, and our Indian wedding photography and Indian wedding videography pages explain how we plan each day.

For Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayali families, a South Indian ceremony has its own rhythm: an early Muhurtham set by your priest, the Kashi Yatra, the Oonjal, the Thaali tying and Saptapadi, often followed by a lunch reception. Our South Indian wedding photography page covers how we plan around a pre-dawn start. We also photograph Nikah, Mehndi and Walima celebrations and Sikh Anand Karaj ceremonies at gurdwaras across the island.

Getting there

Being central matters on Long Island. From our studio, most of Nassau is a short drive along the Northern State, the LIE or the Southern State, and western Suffolk towns like Huntington, Melville and Commack are close behind. For weddings further east, toward Riverhead, the North Fork or the Hamptons, we plan travel time around summer weekend traffic so the team arrives before getting-ready coverage begins.

Engagement shoots and seasons

Long Island gives you a wide choice of settings for an engagement or pre-wedding shoot. Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay and Old Westbury Gardens suit couples who want gardens and historic architecture; both have their own rules for photo sessions, so we check those with you before you pick a date. Jones Beach, Long Beach and the bluffs at Caumsett State Park give you open sky and water. The harbors at Port Jefferson and Northport offer village streets and boats at golden hour.

Spring brings cherry blossoms and tulips to the North Shore gardens. Summer evenings give long golden hours on the South Shore beaches. October is a favorite for foliage and soft light, and winter works well on clear, cold days at the beach, when the sun stays low all afternoon.

Landmarks and photo spots on Long Island

Places couples on Long Island often look at for portraits, engagement sessions and first looks. Some of these places ask for a permit or a fee for professional sessions; we check the current rules before we book a time.

Planning a North Shore estate day or a South Shore waterfront day

The two shores shape your timeline in different ways.

North Shore estate

Mansions and estate venues are built for formal portraits and big entrances, and most of the day can stay on one property.

  • Grand staircases and ballrooms for family groupings
  • Gardens close by for portraits between events
  • Interiors often run warm and dim, so we plan light for the reception
  • Long driveways suit a Baraat with room for the dhol

South Shore waterfront

Clubs and marinas on the bays put the water in the frame, and the wind and sun angle matter more.

  • Ceremony timing set around glare on the water
  • A sheltered spot for veils and dupattas when it is breezy
  • Sunset portraits on the dock or the beach
  • A covered plan if the weather turns

Coastal weather changes quickly. These are the things to settle with your venue ahead of time.
