Wedding Photographer and Videographer in the Hamptons

Beach, estate and vineyard weddings on the East End, from Westhampton Beach to Montauk, photographed and filmed by our Long Island team.

A Hamptons wedding usually feels less like a single day and more like a weekend away. Guests drive out on Friday, there is a welcome dinner or a beach gathering, the wedding fills Saturday, and Sunday ends with a brunch before everyone heads back west. As a Hamptons wedding photographer and videographer based in New York, we know the drive, the light and the pace of the East End, and we plan coverage across the whole weekend when you want it.

Estates, tents, beaches and vineyards

Most Hamptons weddings take place in one of four kinds of setting. Private estates in Southampton, Water Mill and East Hampton host tented receptions on lawns that run down to ponds or the ocean. Inns and resorts, from Westhampton Beach to Montauk, combine guest rooms with ceremony space. Vineyards and farms between Bridgehampton and Sagaponack offer open fields and rows of vines. And the beaches themselves draw couples who want to say their vows with the Atlantic behind them.

Each setting brings practical questions that shape the photographs. A tent at night needs its lighting planned with your designer so portraits and the first dance are not lost in shadow. Beach ceremonies face wind, bright sand and harsh midday sun, so we usually suggest a ceremony time closer to golden hour. Many town and village beaches need a permit for a ceremony, and your planner or venue normally arranges it. We simply work to the time and place your permit allows.

South Asian weddings on the East End

More families are bringing Indian and fusion weddings out east. A Mehndi by the pool at a rental house, a Baraat along an estate driveway with a dhol player, Pheras under a mandap on the lawn, then a tented reception: it all works in the Hamptons with good planning. Fire for the Agni ritual, live drumming and late-night music are all things to clear with the venue or homeowner early. For South Indian families, a garden Muhurtham in the cool early morning, with the Oonjal set up outdoors, can be one of the prettiest ceremonies of the summer. See our Indian wedding photography and South Indian wedding photography pages for how we cover each ritual.

Getting there

The Hamptons are a long drive from central Nassau, and summer traffic on the LIE, Sunrise Highway and Montauk Highway can stretch it further, especially on Friday afternoons. We plan arrival times with plenty of margin and, for early starts or multi-day weekends, arrange to stay out east so the team is rested and on site before getting-ready coverage begins. If your wedding is on Shelter Island or the North Fork, we factor in the ferries as well.

Engagement shoots and light on the East End

The East End is one of the best places on Long Island for an engagement shoot. Main Beach and Georgica in East Hampton, the dunes at Cooper’s Beach in Southampton, the wharf and streets of Sag Harbor, and the Montauk Point Lighthouse all photograph well. Late afternoon light here is soft and low over the water, and on clear evenings the sky after sunset turns pink and violet over the bays.

June through September is peak wedding season, with long evenings and warm water. September and early October are a favorite for many couples: the crowds thin out, the light gets warmer, and the ocean still holds the summer heat. Off-season shoots in late fall have empty beaches and dramatic skies.

An East End weekend often moves from beach to lawn to tent. We plan each move around the tide, the wind and the last of the light.

Landmarks and photo spots in the Hamptons

The East End offers beaches, villages and gardens within a short drive of each other. Some of these places ask for a permit or a fee for professional sessions; we check the current rules before we book a time.

  • Montauk Point Lighthouse

The historic lighthouse at the eastern tip of Long Island, with bluffs and open ocean around it. It is a strong backdrop for sunrise or late-day portraits.

Why beach ceremonies move toward golden hour

Bright sand and open water change the light.

At midday, the sun bounces off the sand and the water, which makes faces squint and shadows hard. Later in the afternoon the sun drops lower and the light turns soft and warm across the beach.

A ceremony closer to sunset also means fewer beachgoers in the background and a calmer breeze on many evenings. Whatever time your permit allows, we plan the angles to suit it.
