Wedding Photographer and Videographer in Westchester, NY

Country clubs, Hudson River estates and Long Island Sound waterfronts across Westchester County, photographed and filmed by our team from New York.

Westchester weddings often feel classic and unhurried: a ceremony on a country club lawn, cocktails on a terrace overlooking the Hudson or the Sound, and a reception in a ballroom with tall windows. As a Westchester wedding photographer and videographer, we cover the county from Yonkers and New Rochelle up to Bedford and Peekskill, for American, Indian, South Asian and fusion weddings.

The kinds of venues you will find

Westchester has three main wedding settings. The first is its country clubs, spread through Rye, Harrison, Purchase, Scarsdale and the northern towns, with manicured grounds and golf course views that suit outdoor portraits. The second is the Hudson River estates around Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington, where historic mansions and stone terraces look west across the river toward the Palisades. The third is the Long Island Sound shoreline in New Rochelle, Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Rye, with waterfront clubs and harbor views.

Alongside those, the hotels around White Plains host many larger weddings, including Indian receptions that need a big ballroom, a separate space for the ceremony and rooms for the family to get ready. Glen Island in New Rochelle and the Tarrytown area are among the best-known names that couples tour.

Light on the river and the Sound

Westchester’s geography changes how we plan your day. On the Hudson side, the sun sets over the river, so a terrace or lawn on the eastern bank gets warm, direct evening light and a glowing sky behind you. On the Sound side, sunset light falls behind the venue, which gives softer light on the water and works well for calm, even portraits. We look at your venue’s orientation and the season when we suggest timing for portraits and the ceremony.

Indian and South Asian weddings in Westchester

Many Indian American families live across Westchester and the neighboring Bronx and Rockland, and the county’s hotels and country clubs regularly host Indian weddings. A typical weekend might include a Mehndi or Sangeet at a restaurant or club on Friday, a Baraat across a hotel courtyard on Saturday morning, the Pheras under a mandap on the lawn, and a ballroom reception that evening. Country clubs with large lawns are well suited to outdoor ceremonies, but the Agni fire, the dhol and the horse for the Baraat all need the venue’s approval. For South Indian families, a morning Muhurtham on a club terrace works well before the summer heat. See our Indian wedding photography and South Indian wedding photography pages.

Getting to Westchester

From our studio we cross into the Bronx by the Throgs Neck or Whitestone Bridge and take the Hutchinson River Parkway or I-95 into southern Westchester, or the Sprain Brook and Taconic for the northern towns. The drive is manageable for a single day, and for early starts or multi-day weddings we plan around bridge and parkway traffic so the team is in place before you begin getting ready.

Engagement shoots in Westchester

Westchester has some of the most varied engagement shoot locations near New York City. Lyndhurst in Tarrytown has a Gothic Revival mansion and lawns on the Hudson, and it sets its own rules for photo sessions. Untermyer Gardens in Yonkers offers a walled garden and river views. Rockefeller State Park Preserve has carriage roads, meadows and a lake, and asks photographers to follow its permit rules. Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla, the boardwalk at Playland in Rye and the village streets of Sleepy Hollow and Irvington round out the list.

October is the standout month, with foliage along the Hudson and the river valley lit gold in late afternoon. Spring blossoms fill the estate gardens in April and May, and summer evenings on the Sound are long and warm.

Portraits on the course after play

Golf courses give you long, open views if the timing works.

Some Westchester clubs let couples step onto the course for portraits, usually once play has finished or on holes away from the clubhouse. The fairways give you wide space, mature trees and soft evening light without other guests in the background.

We agree a time with the club in advance and keep the walk short, so you are back for cocktail hour without missing your guests.

  • Ask the club which holes are open to you
  • Flat shoes for the walk across the grass
  • A golf cart helps with heavy gowns and lehengas
