Indian Wedding Photographer and Videographer in Edison, NJ

Edison, Iselin and Central Jersey: Gujarati, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil and fusion weddings around Oak Tree Road, the banquet halls of Middlesex County and beyond.

For many South Asian families in the tri-state area, Edison and Iselin are where wedding planning happens. The outfits are bought on Oak Tree Road, the sweets are ordered there, and the reception is often in one of the big halls a few minutes away. As an Indian wedding photographer and videographer serving Edison, NJ, we cover weddings across Middlesex and Somerset counties, from a Pithi in a family home to a reception for several hundred guests.

Oak Tree Road and the Central Jersey community

Oak Tree Road runs through Edison and Iselin, part of Woodbridge Township, and it is one of the best-known South Asian shopping streets in the country: lehengas and sherwanis, gold and kundan jewelry, wedding cards, sweets and restaurants. The communities around it are large and varied. Gujarati families have a long history here, Punjabi and Sikh families are well established, and towns like Edison, Piscataway and South Plainfield are home to many Telugu and Tamil families who arrived through the region’s tech and pharmaceutical industries.

What Edison weddings look like

Central Jersey weddings are often large and spread across days. A Gujarati wedding might begin with the Mandvo Mahurat and Pithi at home, move to a Garba and Ras night in a banquet hall, then a morning Baraat, the ceremony under the mandap and an evening reception. A Punjabi wedding may include a Jaggo, a Mehndi, an Anand Karaj at a gurdwara and a reception the same night. We cover multi-day weddings with a mix of Indian and American events, and plan each day around who needs to be where.

The venues here are built for that scale. Royal Albert’s Palace in Fords, the Sheraton Edison, the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick and The Palace at Somerset Park are among the best-known names, alongside temple halls and smaller banquet rooms for the pre-wedding events. Big halls bring their own needs: a long Baraat route in a parking lot, a dance floor with stage lighting, and family portraits with large groups. We plan portrait lists with you ahead of the day so the important groupings happen quickly.

South Indian weddings in Central Jersey

Telugu and Tamil weddings are a big part of the Edison area’s wedding calendar, and the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Bridgewater, a short drive west, is a landmark for many of these families. A Telugu wedding often includes the Pellikuthuru and Pellikoduku ceremonies before the day, then on the day the Kashi Yatra, the bride carried in by her maternal uncles in a decorated basket, the cloth screen lowered at the Muhurtham as Jeelakarra Bellam is placed, the Mangalsutra and the joyful Talambralu. Tamil weddings bring the Kashi Yatra, the Oonjal, the Thaali tying and Saptapadi, and the playful Nalangu. Our South Indian wedding photography and South Indian wedding photography in New Jersey pages explain how we plan for early Muhurtham times.

Travel and timing

From our studio we reach Edison across Staten Island by the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and the Outerbridge Crossing or Goethals Bridge, then the Turnpike, Garden State Parkway or Route 1. For early starts and back-to-back events we often stay nearby so the team is on site before getting-ready coverage begins.

Engagement and pre-wedding shoots

Central Jersey has good options for a pre-wedding shoot. Johnson Park along the Raritan in Piscataway has open lawns and river views. Rutgers Gardens in New Brunswick offers flower beds and a bamboo grove, and Roosevelt Park in Edison has a lake and wooded paths. The Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park adds a local landmark. Spring and fall give the best light, and many couples plan a second outfit change to match their wedding colors.
