Why we write guides
Many of the couples we work with are planning a wedding with traditions from two families, or a multi-day celebration for the first time. Parents know the rituals; couples often know the feeling but not the order or the names. These guides explain each ceremony in plain English: what it is, when it usually happens, who takes part and what is worth having on camera.
What the guides cover
We start with the ceremonies we photograph most and the questions couples ask us on planning calls: the order of events across a Punjabi, Gujarati, South Indian or Bengali wedding; how long each event tends to run; which moments happen in seconds and need a photographer already in place; and how families combine Indian and American events in one weekend. Each guide links to the matching service page, so you can see how we cover those ceremonies, for example Sikh and Punjabi weddings or South Indian weddings.
Every family is different
Customs vary by region, by family and by priest or granthi. Treat these guides as a starting point for conversations with your families, not a rulebook. When we plan your wedding with you, we go through your own order of events and the moments that matter to your families.
Coming next
We add guides as we write them, starting with the ceremonies couples ask us about most. If there is a tradition or a planning question you would like us to cover, tell us when you get in touch and we will consider it for a future guide.
Planning your photography
For help with the photography side of your plans, see Indian wedding photography, our fusion wedding page if two cultures are coming together, or send us your dates and we will talk it through.
Check your date with us
Tell us your dates, events and venues, and we will come back with availability and coverage built around your celebration.
