Wedding Photographer and Videographer in Staten Island, NY

Waterfront catering halls, garden ceremonies and harbor views across Staten Island, reached by the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.

Staten Island weddings have a character of their own. Families tend to be close, guest lists tend to be generous, and many receptions take place in waterfront catering halls built for long nights on the dance floor. As a Staten Island wedding photographer and videographer, we cover those big celebrations as well as garden ceremonies and smaller gatherings with harbor views.

Venues on Staten Island

The borough’s best-known wedding venues are its catering halls, many on or near the water along the South Shore and the Arthur Kill. These rooms often have dramatic entrances, grand staircases and outdoor terraces for portraits at sunset. On the North Shore, Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden is a popular setting for garden ceremonies and portraits, with historic Greek Revival buildings and formal gardens. Couples also choose restaurants, hotel ballrooms and family homes for smaller events and the days around the wedding.

Catering halls run efficient timelines, often with a cocktail hour in one room and the reception in another, and sometimes more than one wedding in the building at once. We work with the hall’s coordinator on when the room opens for detail photos and where family portraits can happen without blocking traffic.

South Asian families on Staten Island

Staten Island is home to a well-established Sri Lankan community around Tompkinsville and the North Shore, as well as Indian and Pakistani families across the borough. Weddings for these families can include a Mehndi or Haldi at home, a temple or hall ceremony, and a reception in one of the larger halls. For Tamil-speaking families, a South Indian ceremony with an early Muhurtham, the Thaali tying and Saptapadi may be part of the plan. Our South Asian wedding photography and South Indian wedding photography pages cover how we approach each tradition.

Getting there

From our studio we reach Staten Island by the Belt Parkway and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. Belt Parkway traffic can be heavy, so we leave generous time for early starts. Staten Island is also a natural stop on the way to Central New Jersey, which helps when a wedding weekend splits between the two.

Engagement shoots and light

Staten Island has more open space than people expect. Snug Harbor’s gardens and courtyards are lovely in spring and early summer. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk at South Beach gives you the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge as a backdrop, best at sunset. Conference House Park in Tottenville has a historic house and shoreline at the island’s southern tip, and Fort Wadsworth looks across the Narrows toward Brooklyn. The Staten Island Ferry itself, with the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline, makes for a playful, free stop on an engagement shoot.

Fall brings warm color to the Greenbelt and the North Shore hills, and summer evenings give long golden light over the water on the South Shore.
